God of the Word Bible Study

About the Study

About the Study

GOD of the WORD is a series of eight Bible studies that takes you through the Bible from beginning to end. The systematic approach highlights the overall story of the Bible, encourages application to everyday life, and is helpful to anyone, whether they have never opened a Bible or have studied it for many years. The GOTW format encourages students to dig into Bible passages for themselves before reading commentary or hearing teaching on it. This is accomplished through a three-step process, which begins with personal Bible reading and the answering of fifteen weekly questions. The second step is small group discussion. Finally, participants watch a summarizing video. This start-on-your-own approach allows an understanding of the passages to develop progressively, an ideal way to learn, and deepens personal conviction that God’s word is indeed living and active.

Meet the Author

Debbi Hammond is a longtime student of the Bible and Bible study methods. For ten years, she was involved with an international Bible study organization, ultimately lecturing on the Bible and training leaders in Christian leadership principles weekly. In 2005, Debbi left that position and moved from the southwestern United States to upstate New York, where her husband Jim assumed leadership of Gospel Volunteers, Inc. and CAMP-of-the-WOODS. Her work on GOD of the WORD began in 2008 and continues to the present. Debbi trains individuals in and outside the United States who use her curriculum and also serves in a variety of hosting and teaching roles at CAMP-of-the-WOODS. She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. David Denyer and has been married to Jim since 1981. She and Jim have four children and a growing number of grandchildren.
